Adjusting Monitor Gamma

Gamma
- Gamma plays a vital role in the way images are displayed on your computer screen. If not set correctly, images can appear too bright, too dark, or bleached out.

MEPIS 7 and 8
In order to be able to change the gamma settings in MEPIS 7 and 8, you need to install kgamma using the usual methods. Reboot, and Monitor Gamma will be present in KMenu --> Control Center --> Peripherals --> Display.
ATI cards
- Gamma adjustments for ATi cards 9500 series to x1x00 series (Catalyst 8.39 driver)
- Gamma adjustments for ATi cards 8500 series to 9200 series (Catalyst 8.28 driver)
- These cards can be adjusted using kgamma
- Gamma adjustments for ATi cards 7500 series to 8500 series (Radeon X.org Driver)
- These cards can be adjusted using kgamma
Nvidia cards
- Gamma adjustments for Nvidia cards Geforce FX - Geforce 8xxx (100.xx driver set)
- Gamma adjustments for Nvidia cards Geforce 2mx - Geforce 4 (.96 driver set)
- These cards can be adjusted using kgamma
- Gamma adjustments for Nvidia cards Riva TNT-Geforce 2 series (.71 driver set)
- These cards can be adjusted using kgamma

MEPIS 6.5
- Should you wish to adjust the gamma in MEPIS, you first open Menu-->System-->System Configuration-->Peripherals-->Display, then click on the Monitor Gamma tab, Here you can adjust red, green and blue individually, or by moving the gamma button you can adjust all 3 at once.
- When happy with your adjustments, click apply, To save settings to xf86config after clicking apply, check box "Save settings to xf86Config."
