Encoding mp3 files

In many countries the software that encodes mp3's may be subject to patent restrictions. To avoid this legal gray area MEPIS does not include the program that does the encoding. If you believe it is legal in your location or situation, you can install liblame0 like any other package. Open Synaptic or kpackage, search for and install the package called limlam0 (which ends in zero, not an upper case letter O).
