Fuji Xerox Docuprint c525a colour laser printer drivers
How to install and configure drivers for a Fuji Xerox Docuprint c525a colour laser printer on a Dell notebook, an Inspiron 1300 ME051 Intel Pentium M, 1.6GHz CPU, 512 MB RAM, 80 GB HDD with MEPIS 6.5.
Redhat RPM linux drivers for the Fuji Xerox Docuprint c525a colour laser printer are available for download at:

Download "dpc525a_linux_.0.0.tar.zip". Extract the zip archive to a folder. Inside a folder of the same name will be the file 'Fuji-Xerox-Docuprint-C525-A-AP_1.0-2_i386.rpm'.
As root, run 'Alien' in a console in that folder to make a .deb from the .rpm.
Enter
alien Fuji-Xerox-Docuprint-C525-A-AP_1.0-2_i386.rpm
As root, to install the drivers run
dpkg -i fuji-xerox-docuprint-c525-a-ap_1.0-2_i386.deb
Or, open 'File Manager Super User Mode' (Konqueror).
Navigate to the folder and right-click on the newly-created .deb file 'fuji-xerox-docuprint-c525-a-ap_1.0-2_i386.deb'.
Select 'open with KPackage', then select 'install', select 'install', select 'done'.
Open "http://localhost:631/" in the Konqueror address bar.
This will open the CUPS Common UNIX Printing System interface.
Select 'Administration'.
Under "New Printers Found" it will display 'Fuji Xerox C525A AP'.
Select "Add this printer".
Under "Make/Manufacturer" select 'FX'.
Select "continue".
A "Model" box with "FX Docuprint C525A-AP v1.0 (en)" should appear.
Close Konqueror.
Select Kmenu, print system, add printer, add printer wizard, select USB/serial
It will display 'usb:FUJI XEROX DocuPrint C525A-AP'.
Select a valid detected port by clicking on 'FUJI XEROX Docuprint C525A A-AP USB #1'. Select 'Next', and this message will display, 'please wait while building driver database........'.
The wizard will move to 'Printer model selection', scroll down and select 'FX'.
Model; select 'DocuPrint C525A-AP' and click 'next'.
The wizard will move to 'Printer test'. Select 'settings', check paper size (A4 etc) click 'ok', and select 'test'.
A MEPIS Printer test page should come out of the DocuPrint C525A-AP
The wizard will move to 'Test page successfully sent to the printer. Wait until printing is complete, then click the OK button'. Click 'OK', Select 'Next', The wizard will move to 'Banners'. Select 'no'. Printer quota settings: Select 'no'. The wizard will move to 'User access settings'. Select 'no'.
The wizard will move to 'General information'. Name: 'laser', location: 'home'. 'Next'.
The wizard will move to 'Confirmation'. Review the displayed settings and click 'finish'.
The FX docuprint c525a is set to go.
