KDEWallet

KDE Wallet (kwalletmanager) aims to provide secure storage for passwords and web form data. You can group different passwords in different wallets, and each one will only be opened with a master password. KDE programs like Kontact, Konqueror, Kmail and Kopete are fully compatible with the KDE Wallet Manager. All of them will ask for permission to access the actual wallet.

Using KDEWallet

1. First time when you enter a password into a KDE program KDEWallet Service wizard will pop up.
2. Pick a password for KDEWallet Service and retype it to verify it.
3. Click "Open". While the KDEWallet is open the programs have access to it and can store and retrieve passwords from it. The benefit is that you need to remember only one password for KDEWallet instead of remembering multiple passwords for each individual program or sites.

Change KDEWallet Settings

1. Right-click the desktop, select Run Command, and enter "kwalletmanager"
2. Right-click the new wallet icon that appears in the right side of the taskbar, select "Configure Wallet"

Disabling KDEWallet

To stop this request each time you open a KDE application, follow these steps:

1. Right-click the desktop, select Run Command, and enter "kwalletmanager"
2. Right-click the new wallet icon that appears in the right side of the taskbar, select "Configure Wallet"
3. Uncheck "Enable the KDE wallet subsystem"
4. Right-click the wallet icon again and click "Quit"
