Kicker is the panel on the bottom (default setting) of KDE desktop. It usually holds these elements:

  • K Menu launcher -- main KDE menu
  • Application launcher -- shortcuts that launch different programs
  • Taskbar -- window selector (you can select the foreground task by clicking on it)
  • Applets -- small applications that run inside the Kicker
  • System Tray -- some applications put an icon in the System Tray which allows you to monitor their behaviour or give you different notifications.
  • Clock applet

All these elements are customizable, can be added, removed, and moved to and from the kicker (most of the options are available by right-clicking with the mouse on the item).
