Introduction
LaTeX is a high-quality typesetting system; it includes features designed for the production of technical and scientific documentation. LaTeX is the de facto standard for the communication and publication of scientific documents.

Use
A friendly (sort of...) editor exists in the repos for KDE: Kile. If you get an error message when trying to build about fonts, install the package lmodern.
Also very easy is Texmaker, whose GUI (in version 1.9.2) is very uncluttered and convenient. A version is available in the repos, but check the website for a more recent deb.
