Troubleshooting
- If you run into problems with plugins operating correctly, the following often helps:
- Click KMenu --> System --> File System --> File Manager - Supersuser Mode
- Navigate to the directory where Opera is installed
- Delete the Plugins directory
- Make a softlink to the Plugins directory in Firefox.
Ad-Filter
You can add an adblock-capability, like Mozillas Adblock Plus, to Opera:
- download the urlfilter.ini from fanboy.co.nz
- save it into your hidden Opera-directory --> system:/users/YOURNAME/.opera
- restart Opera
Tweaks
- Set Opera as the default browser in KDE
- Expand your Speed Dial
With opera closed, go to /home/yourusername/.opera directory and look for the speeddial.ini file.
Open it in kwrite and add following to very bottom of file:
[Size] Rows=3 Columns=4
Restart Opera and you'll have 12 speed dial shortcuts. You can try adding more if necessary!
- Get rid of 'search panel' in Speed Dial screen
- With Opera running this time - open a tab and type opera:config in the address bar.
- Click on User Prefs and scroll down to Speed Dial Search Type.
- Change entry to '0'.
- Go to bottom of page and click save.
- Close the config editor and get back to Speed Dial again
- Start without icon in system tray
Start Opera with opera -notrayicon command switch.
