SAMBA
From MEPIS Documentation Wiki
SAMBA is a software package that implements the SMB (a.k.a. CIFS) protocol in Linux. This is the protocol used by MS Windows computers for file and print sharing. If you want to share files with other Windows computers on your network, you will need to set up SAMBA.
SAMBA is also used by Linux to browse shares on Windows computers (or any computer running SAMBA).
