Videochat

There are a number of programs that permit video chatting in MEPIS Linux.
- Ekiga -- multi-client app that provides excellent out-of-the-box recognition of webcam video and audio. Ekiga is compatible with programs for Windows and Mac platforms.
- Wengophone -- another multi-client app with good hardware recognition. Before installing the downloaded Wengo deb package, use Synaptic to install libssl0.9.7. NOTE: download the deb for Wengo from here if not available in the repos.
- aMSN -- a free open-source MSN Messenger clone.
- GYachI --a Yahoo! client for Linux. Currently only works on MEPIS 6.5. To install, download the Ubuntu Dapper deb package. Before you install it, install these three packages through Synaptic: xmms libmcrypt4 libgtk1.2 If you get a blowfish error message, you can stop it by removing the blowfish plugin /usr/local/share/gyachi/plugins/gyachigpgme.so
- Skype. Popular free proprietary program now available for MEPIS 7 with videochatting
