Back to wireless connection

Wireless networking allows you to connect 2 or more computers together without the need for cabling. (ethernet) In a nutshell, wireless networking uses radio transmissions to send and receive data between devices. External wireless connections, primarily longer distances, require line of site (LOS) in order to work properly or at all. Internal wireless connections cover much shorter distances and as a result, LOS is less of an issue. Spread Spectrum is the transmission technology used. Wireless networking is commonly referred to as WiFi. The consumer level gear works in the unlicensed frequecies which are referred to as ISM (Industrial, Scientific, Medical) and UNII (Unlicensed National Information Infrastructure).
