Computer-aided design (CAD) is used in mechanical engineering and other areas to produce technical drawings of objects. There are a number of options available for MEPIS users:
- Earlier versions of AutoCAD (such as AutoCAD 2000 or 2002) running under Wine or in a virtual machine such as VirtualBox
- Proprietary versions such as VariCAD which runs on both Windows and Linux platforms, or Medusa4, which is free for personal use.
- Open-source applications such as gCAD3D (in German), FreeCad or Qcad.
