Computer-aided design (CAD) is used in mechanical engineering and other areas to produce technical drawings of objects. There are a number of options available for MEPIS users:

  • Earlier versions of AutoCAD (such as AutoCAD 2000 or 2002) running under Wine or in a virtual machine such as VirtualBox
  • Proprietary versions such as VariCAD (3D/2D) which runs on both Windows and Linux platforms, or Medusa4 (3D/2D), which is free for personal use.
  • Open-source applications such as gCAD3D (click flag for English), FreeCad (3D) or Qcad (2D).
