Enabling Java in OpenOffice

From MEPIS Documentation Wiki

Jump to: navigation, search

Java is not enabled by default In OpenOffice.org because it can make it extremely slow to start (up to 20 seconds or more) when running from CD or on very old hardware. To enable it you need to do this:

  1. In OpenOffice.org, open Tools > Options... and in the dialog select OpenOffice.org > Java
  2. Then check the box Use a Java runtime environment and make sure the JVM is also selected in the table under the checkbox, then click OK.
  3. In synaptic, search for and install openoffice.org-base. This installs the OpenOffice.org Java database "server" which is used with Forms.
