Launching another Desktop Environment

From MEPIS Documentation Wiki

Jump to: navigation, search

When you log in you can pick what Desktop Environment you want to use: (example: KDE, GNOME, Fluxbox, WindowMaker). You can install most of the desktop environments with the apt-get command.

To choose which one to launch, in KDM click on "Menu" button -> select "Session Type" -> select the desired desktop environment.

  • If you cannot find the entry in KDM "Session Type" you can add it manually. Example:
ln -s /usr/share/xsessions/xfce4.desktop /usr/share/apps/kdm/sessions/xfce4.desktop
