Introduction

When an email client such as Kmail or Outlook asks for new mail, POP3 retrieves it from the mail server's Post Office. It then passes it to mail client. It can either copy mail and leave in Post Office or remove from Post Office. Both are generally configured via mail client.

Setup

Dovecot

Dovecot POP3 Server (package name: dovecot-pop3d) can be downloaded via Synaptic. The scenario for configuration below is: a plain text login, and uses Linux users as POP3 users.
