- All Mepis 12 alpha and beta releases up to and including the current (July 31, 2013) SimplyMEPIS-1.5G_11.9.91 release use /etc/apt/sources.list.d/debian.list and /etc/apt/sources.list.d/mepis.list fragment files instead of a more traditional /etc/apt/sources.list file. The recommendation at this time is to remove the fragment files and replace the existing /etc/apt/sources.list file with the list shown above. Future updates to the mepis-config package may cause the fragment files to be reinstalled so pay attention to updates of that package.
- The entries shown above are set to use the US Debian mirror, you may get better results by changing to a different mirror i.e. "http://ftp.uk.debian.org/debian", "http://ftp.de.debian.org/debian", etc. The complete list of the Debian mirrors can found at http://www.debian.org/mirror/list
- The Community Repository testing repository is disabled for safety. Before you enable it, please see the notes at the Community Repository page.
- The deb-multimedia repository is also disabled for safety because the Community Repository has many of the correct packages needed for your system to work as intended. If you do need some packages from the deb-multimedia repository that are not in the Community Repository (for example libdvdcss2 or Abobe Acrobat Reader) it's OK to install them by temporarily enabling the deb-multimedia repository.
