I'd like to remove either "Backup" or "Console" link from the first page, which one is less useful on the first page? -- AdrianTM 10:15, 20 February 2007 (EST)

I would vote for removing Backup and putting it under General Knowledge. I would also recommend thinking about changing "Console" to "Terminal" b/c it is a more familiar term to average users. Jerry3904

OK, I changed around the front page trying to make it more consistent. Don't know if it's better... Better or worse? (we can revert anytime). Opinions? -- AdrianTM 01:14, 24 February 2007 (EST)

I like it very much. Much cleaner, better organized.

If I changed anything, it would be the "Getting Started" section. Conceptually, Software Installation Guide [typo there!] and List of Linux Software belong together under a category such as "Software Guide." If we did combine them, we could think about creating a new FAQ section that contained a limited number of newbie-only FAQs. We might use the forum to ask what people would recommend as the most important FAQs for beginners. Just a thought.

This is good work. --Jerry3904 09:30, 24 February 2007 (EST)

Thanks. I think though it's good to keep separated Software Installations Guide and Linux Software articles because they are both really big articles, they are also interesting in themselves (respond to different questions: "how to install software?", "what software is available in Linux?") if we combine it means to take one from the eyes of the public... FAQ section is a good idea. -- AdrianTM 11:09, 24 February 2007 (EST)

It would be neat too, if we did an FAQ section, to have a memo box entitled: "Suggest a new FAQ" or something like that, with a "Submit" button that dumped the contents somewhere we could easily find. --Jerry3904 12:16, 24 February 2007 (EST)

Can we rename MEPIS User Guide (PDF)

to "MEPIS 3.4 User Guide" without causing any trouble? --Jerry bond 08:26, 17 March 2007 (EST)

Shouldn't this link to instead of just right back to this page?

That's a good idea send an e-mail to Matt, he can change it. -- AdrianTM 09:05, 27 March 2007 (EST)
Do you know how to make it change? Is it in the template? Mmelbert 12:28, 27 March 2007 (EST)
Actually I don't know... maybe you can find in Mediawiki documentation, however this is not a crucial thing.... -- AdrianTM 12:33, 27 March 2007 (EST)
In a similar situation at work, the admin solved it by using a redirect, don't know if that would work here. --Jerry bond 12:41, 27 March 2007 (EST)
I fixed it. I modified the file <mediawiki install dir>/skins/MonoBook.php I changed the line
?>href="<?php echo htmlspecialchars($this->data['nav_urls']['mainpage']['href'])?>" <?php

?>href="" <?php

?>title="<?php $this->msg('mainpage') ?>"></a>

Simple fix that I put in all of the languages. I was hoping to find a override variable in the LocalSettings.php file but didnt find one:

Excellent! --Jerry bond 13:40, 27 March 2007 (EST)
