I have been married over 35 years and have two daughters and two grand-daughters.
I started using computers in 1982 with a Commodore 64. I have been a SYSOP on dial-up BBSes and worked in the Commodore area on GEnie for about a year. I was a Q-Link user, which was a predecessor to AOL that served the Commodore computing community. I have also used CompuServe and Delphi. At one time I thought my 1200 BAUD modem was fast! I was active in a local Commodore user group (Midwest Commodore Users Group - MWCUG) as an officer and editor of the newsletter.
I have built most of my PCs since the IBM XT that was given to me. Currently my everyday system is dual booting Mepis Linux 8 and Windows XP Media Center Edition. It has a AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3500+, 2 GB of RAM, a DVD burner, CDRW drive and 640 GB of hard disk space.
I am currently running two other systems. one running as a local test server (Apache and FTP) and the other for goofing around with other linux distros.
The idea of users supporting users was very much a part of my early involvement with computers. The exchange of information at user group meetings and later in online communities is how I was raised.
I love to read, mostly mysteries.
