Take Your Desktop Everywhere With "Desktop OnTheGo"
Submitted by emelbert on Thu, 07/28/2005 - 09:18. OtherMEPIS has announced that the Traveller Disc application will be superseded by a second generation product called Desktop OnTheGo.
With Desktop OnTheGo, users will be able to run their entire home directory, including settings and identity, from a USB device. Desktop OnTheGo will also feature optional AES encryption.

Mepis IRC Channel Launched

To connect to the Mepis IRC channel open up KSirc by clicking on the K menu and highlighting "Internet" then highlight "More" and click KSirc. Once KSirc has opened click "Connections" and "New Server". In the text box that states "Server/Quick connect to:" type
irc.freenode.orgthen click the "Connect" button. A window will pop up asking you to enter an alias by which you will be known; once you have chosen an alias click "OK". After you are connected type
/join #mepisand hit enter. You are now ready to enjoy the wonders of IRC.
