Bug or "I was too tired last night to get it right" report

Comments on Mepis 6.0 beta 5:

1. I could set up my HP MSC 1610 printer/scanner with the wizard unlike Ubuntu, but for the life of me I could not get Mepis to configure the scanner part at all; it was unusable. Any suggestions, or is it a bug?

2. Watching DVD films in both Kaffine and Xine still hacks horribly in Mepis, i.e., frame rate dropping. I am using a Celeron 2.8GH, 500 MB RAM, Nvidia graphics card 256 MB SDRAM. This only happens with Mepis and I don't understand why? I don't think it's a DMA enable issue since I checked that in an earlier Mepis release.

3. Nvidia. I might have missed this since it was so late last night but I missed the standard Mepis nvidia driver and glx installation.

4. Update a la Knoppix/Kannotix: This isn't a bug but I assume that the ability to upgrade without a clean installation will be implemented as soon as possible, next release perhaps?
