NVIDIA - AGAIN!
The Generic NV driver was happy at my 1280x1024, but I had to play.
Of course I wanted the NVIDIA drivers installed.
I used the "OLD" OS centre to install the drivers.
Now I've got genuine NVIDIA, but only 1024x768.
Bummer!
How do I fix?

NVIDIA
I've re-installed the NV driver and got back my 1280x1024 but am reticent to try again for NVIDIA as all versions so far of 6.? have failed on NVIDIA for me.

You prob can get it done
You prob can get it done with using the F3 key on startup with the live CD.
and editing /etc/X11/xorg.conf afterwards if needed.
CLICK
After you have set the resolution with the live cd, you should first try the easier ati-screen switch and restart linux.
If that does not help revert and change all the mode- and metamode lines>restart.
NVIDIA
The problem is in the TwinView settings that in xorg.conf.
If you comment out this line:
Option "MetaModes" "1024x768' "1023x768"
or change the resolutions in it to your preferred resolution you'll be able to use the Nvidia driver at your preferred resoultion.
I think there are several problems with either the Nvidia driver or the configuration file including one that will not let the screensaver start.
