Great Distro

After major problems installing RC1 to my 200 gig hard drive, this RC2 installed perfectly without any problems. This RC2 is very nice and indeed polished in many ways. It's a far cry from earlier versions of Mepis. Kudo's to Warren and his hard work and the Mepis team. This is quite a very nice distro.

BTW, I have Kubuntu and Ubuntu on my wife's computer and they too look very good and have progressed along way this past year, especially Kubuntu which I could never get to integrate with my Wifi card. Now everything works. . ..with them also.

I wish there was a means to move along the update of repositories that deal with 'Universe'i.e. 'independent' software out there. ( i.e. for example 1.3.2 Celestia is now up to version 1.4.1 which I've installed and runned with out any problems. Stellarium 0.7.1 is now 0.8.0. I've installed these on my wife's computer and downloaded all of the software dependencies from the Kubuntu repositories and they work very well. ...alot of the independent software out there need to updated in the repositories. . ..just a complaint. .. .nothing major though. .. .

Anyways, I need to say that RC2 is great and Mepis just gets better and better. ..Warren, keep up the good work.You've got a great disto. Linux was one wakeup call that has been well worth my time and effort to pursue and weaned me away from the Windoze environment. This experience and software has been priceless. . . .
