Taskbar moving with no applications running

How do I get the taskbar to stop moving over to the left when no applications are running? I want it to stay where it is at instead of moving? Thanks!

tried that, didn't work.

tried that, didn't work. When applications shutdown, everything still moves to the left. Using 6.0 RC2.

Move all the icons before the taskbar and including the taskbar to the left as much as possible then lock.
Also if you have the "runaway catcher" on the kicker(taskbar), remove that.

This appears to be "new and improved" with RC2. I did not see similar behavior with RC1. More specifically, it has to do with KDE. Yamal, on my system, if I right-click on an empty spot on the taskbar, the "lock panels" is already set.
I have a "fairly freshly installed" system and at first this did not happen. To clarify what appears to happen. Upon initial login, on a fairly fresh machine, the KDE taskbar is properly arranged with the "K" and other stuff to the left, and the various status icons and clock to the right. The two "virtual desktops" are in the middle with plenty of space between that and the status icons to the right. There are no applications running. However, after running an application or two, moving between virtual desktops and generally playing around, if I close all applications, the status icons and clock move to the left.
When this first happened, I had changed my system so that the synpatics touchpad worked (allowing double-tapping, drag and drop, etc.). Once I restarted X, then KDE started "rearranging the furniture"
dadvw, is this what you've been experiencing? Do you happen to have a laptop with a touchpad? I'm wondering if this is related.
I then turned off the synaptics touchpad (changed back to ps/2). I then had to grab each group's dragbar (usually just to the left of the group) and [b]move the group. When I did that they moved and stayed. This was done without turning off/on the "lock panels".
So right now I'm putting this issue in the "terribly annoying" category. But it is somewhat fixable. I'm just not sure yet if my "fix" is permanent. I have not been able to do enough testing.

Yes, this is what I am

Yes, this is what I am experiencing, although not using a laptop, just a desktop system. I was thinking it was a KDE problem that was set by default and could be turned off, the reason for the post. At least I am not the only one having issues with it. If it's a Release issue, maybe they can fix it. Thanks for the post!

Rightclick on empty piece, choose "lock panels".
