The new Settings Panel is really the worst I have experiened.
I dont want to have to open multiple pages and then close them all. It's a nightmare!
That last one from the betas was allot better where it was a panel and you could flip back to the original menu with the arrow buttons. i think that was taken from Kubuntu
The settings menu looks terrible in the file manager too. Isn't this obvious to Warren. I guess not. I dont want to be forced into Kubuntu.

Just add kcontrol to the K-menu
The KDE Control Center is still installed. Just add a menu-entry somewhere (Systems would be a good place) for it with "usr/bin/kcontrol" or even "kcontrol".

New Settings Panel
I think the change is from KDE, not Kubuntu. KDE has had a lot of criticism regarding the control center being too complex. I'm with you - I think the old way was better (but maye I'm just accustomed to it).
The old Control Center is still in KDE. You can use the menu editor (right-click on the K menu) and change the command for "MEPIS Control Center" so that it reads "kcontrol". Or you can make your own icon or menu line for kcontrol. It can also be run from Konsole.
Hope this helps.
