Websense, VNC, and Evolution
My company uses that insidious software Websense. Mepis.org is blocked and comes up under the catgory "shopping". Kinda hard to adopt in a corporate environment if the support sites are blocked.
I use several computers on a daily basis and communicate between them using VNC. VNC is used extensively in all the engineering organizations that I have worked for. Mepis should include VNC server and client out-of-the-box
As far as email goes, I feel that Evolution has the edge for a corporate environment. For me, the killer feature is the ability to use a corporate email list to look up email addresses, plus the integration with ms exchange.
I also run vmware server to run ms office. Linux is not going to just displace Windows. They must coexist.
I am currently running Fedora. I evaluated mepis 3.4.3 and really liked it, except Evolution did not seem fully supported, VNC was not included, couldn't find my sun monitor
Looking forward to mepis 6

thanks for the comments

have you emailed websense about this? mepis.com could be rated shopping, but not mepis.org

Mepis isn't aimed at the multi computer user like yourself, but more at the single desktop user. As space on a CD distro is always at a premium, a lot of useful things have to be left off. I can't recall any other calls for vnc on the CD - perhaps my memory is going...

This is available in many different ways, and the generic name is LDAP server. Lots of servers run LDAP. I have no idea what one uses ms exchange for, except to spend money on a proprietary product, so I don't know what alternates there are.

And I use 'parallels' to get my work software going on my laptop, for when I have to leave the building and see people elsewhere. I'd prefer a Linux solution for work but it doesn't exist yet.
