Can anyone recommend a decent usb scanner that will work with Mepis with zero configuration required. Just plug and use. I figure since I am going to buy one anyway, I may as well make life easy. Thanks

I got a Canon LiDE -- I believe it was a 60 but I'll check -- from newegg. It's worked beautifully. powered via USB, so fewer cables. I plugged it in and fired up the scanner utility (Kscanner?) and it detected it, and was willing to work with 300-2400 dpi scans. The results were beautiful. It was the single most impressive attach-and-use hardware interaction I think I've ever had. (especially compared with trying to get my ipod working with mepis.)
