I cannot reproduce wmv archives in my mepis 6.0 RC3.
What I can do for being able to reproduce them filea.

I got them from here, and installed them as suggested by the README

Either google w32codecs and download a .deb file to keep and install, or or look for it through Synaptic.
If you're serious about making the switch to Linux, can I suggest you dump the proprietary closed source microsoft stuff and recode or remake your media files using the open source alternatives available under Linux.
