If I copie a e-mail or an imagen drag and drop comes: Access denight.
Coud not write to/mnt/flash/”name”.part
(name=name of the e-mail)
or: Error-Kio_devices_mounthelper
X mount:/dev/sda1 is not a valid block device.
Please check that the disk is entered correctly(It is)

What is wrong? What have I to do?

I need to moove datos from each OS to the other and olthoug to an other PC.
I’m working a couple of jears with Windows and now I’m making my first steps with Mepis.

USB Pen Drive - Problem

Hello Hubert from the error message it might be a permission problem . Have a look at your /etc/group file to see if your user name is next to the usb script or whatever you might think pertains to the usb devices . I dont remember off hand what it is, im using 6.0 rc3 now . The easiest way for me to add permissions to a device is in a konsole as root with adduser (your user name) (x-group) then log out and back in or reboot. Without the brackets a course.
Its seeing it since the icon comes up i reckon. But you might have at /etc/fstab to be sure. Allso do a search on Mepis.org i Vaugely remember some posts about that.

Dear James. Thank you very

Dear James. Thank you very much for your help, but I'm sorry to say, I don't understand everything very well yet.
Were is my /etc/group file ? And the usb script?
if your user name is next to the usb script or whatever you might think pertains to the usb devices.
/etc/fstab? to be sure?

In XP I never had to do anything with Permissions and I was never working with the console, but I am very interested to learn it and would bee very glad if you have some more patience with me.
Thank you!!!

/etc/group file ?

You can use the File Manager Superuser Mode to edit fstab if you have to, have to be root to change system files . Or the system will tell you to take a hike.Eye-wink Open the file manager SUMode and the directory tree should be opened by Konqueror. (Somebody called me on leaving the or off konqueror one time so make a note its there!) Eye-wink
You should see boot bin dev etc directorys in tree view. Both files are at bottom and are just text files . The refrence to the konsole was just for adding permissions.
