Can't create "New Folder" in Konqueror File Manager
Posts: 78
I've installed 6.0 RC3. In Konqueror File Manager, if I go where I've always gone to create a new folder (Edit > Create > New Folder), there's nothing there. No "Create" option - not grayed out, just missing. I've looked high and low.
Am I not not seeing something? Or is it a glitch in my installation? Thanks.
The "New Folder" option also doesn't show up booting 6.0 RC-1 from CD. It's there when I boot from 3.4.3 (final), though.
I THINK - but I'm not sure - that a much less powerful file manager (from kubuntu, maybe) popped up the first time I clicked on the little house in the panel after installing.

I'm using the workaroud of navigating to where I'd like to create the folder, hitting the handy "Open Terminal" button in the Taskbar, and using "mkdir".

Preaching to the Converted
With 6.0, Warren has outdone himself. Everything I've tried works perfectly except "New Folder."
I was worried about having to decide on a new disto after 3.4.3. Bootup drew as many error messages as OK's and, for starters, I couldn't get a mouse to work. That was after a decline spanning several months and several beta and RC releases. The decision to move to the ubuntu pool from Debian was justified.
I've just set up a new machine and it's my first experience with actually owning a Win XP computer. XP has gotten better over the years but its glitches are more of a nuisance than those of Mepis.
I had to install a PCI card to get around an integrated nVidia NForce Networking Controller that came with my new rig. But I learned from reading on the 'Net that Mepis users are lucky - users of many other distros can't get the nForce stuff to work no matter what they do.
I've used Mepis for two years as my primary computing platform.

Eureka! You found it for me!
Yes, there are a lot of ways to do stuff in Linux. The Konqueror file manager is one of my favorite things about KDE. No animated puppies, no reason to have to dig out my old (OnTrack) copy of PowerDesk. And, most of the time when I wish Konqueror had a feature I haven't discovered, the feature is already there with little searching.
Speaking of not being able to find things - I had to learn where Mepis Uiilities are now located by reading the forums. I was worried for a minute.

Have you opened the little house and right clicked where you want to make a folder then from the context menu picked make new folder? Lots of ways to do stuff and really so in linux.
