SimplyMepis 6.0 final Installed and awesome

I installed SimplyMepis 6.0 final this morning and after a few quick tweaks it is the best ever.I had to press f3 quick before signing in to set my screen resolution. Same as rc3.I had to change amaroks sound plugin to oss to get amarok to perform as it has.otherwise it would crash. With the sound plugin set to oss amarok really rocks. And so does 6.0 final.
The Nvidia driver upgrade in MEPIS utilities went smooth.Screensavers are good for my e-GeForce 5500 128 Mb pci card.Firefox is faster than I have ever seen it.Synaptic is smooth and solid.Kaffeine plays smooth and clear as always.
All in all 6.0 final an awesome, fast and stable operating system.
6.0 Final Absolutly FANTASTIC.

Mepis 6.0 Final is "FANTASTIC"
I installed it went Flawlessly, Used Synaptic to install My Nvidia glx modules.
Rebooted my PC, and figured I would have to manually reconfigure the glx modules to get my 1280x1024 res.
Nope it auto set it up for the 1280x1024 plus gave me a second choice of 1024x768.
Which is fine by me...
My wife sometimes has to use my PC for things.
And she likes 800x600 I know I could manually config the modules to give my Card that res.
But I told her all she's getting is the 1024x768.
Take it or Leave it.
She said that'd be fine.
Coming back to my PC and getting the res she used Last because she does'nt set it back.
At 1024x768 is BAD Enough but I can live with that, But coming back to 800x600 will not only make yoa Think your Cards went Whacko, but all that Huge CRAP gives me a Headache Real Quick.
"GREAT JOB" Warren as well as the rest of the Mepis Team...
I won't Give UP.
I'll never Give Up.
Until Windoze is a thing of the PAST...

I had been using Mandriva for a year or so now and recently tried Mepis 6. It is awesome!
It recognized all my hardware (including my NVidia chipset stuff) and has so many nice touches to it that I have made the move to Mepis.
I have always liked debian distros because of apt-get but had never found a debian KDE type distro that was as friendly as Mandriva (non debian). However, Mepis sets a NEW standard for friendly and easy. Installing all my favorite Linux apps was easy and mind blowing.
... And the O.S. runs faster and with less memory used!
Mepis 6 is a real winner!

I had installed Mepis in December 2004 from a CD distributed by Linux for You (an Indian magazine on GNU/Linux). I had at that time found it to be the best distro I had ever tried till then. Unfortunately it had issues with my Epson USB Inkjet printer which I had not been able to resolve. I had continued to use my favourite distro Archlinux, mainly using Gnome.
The other day having visited the KDE home page again I wanted to try KDE again. So I thought what better way to try KDE than to install Mepis again. Needless to say I am very pleased and happy with everything. The nvidia modules have been the easiest to install on Mepis and Synaptic is wonderful. I installed some stuff with Automatix which I heartily recommend. I am now itching to try Beryl/Xgl on Mepis. Am looking for a howto.
Mepis absolutely rocks!

Best Distro I'v Tried to date.

Ok, I'v tried just about every free distro to date and this is the first that worked with all the hardware in my Averatec 3200 notebook PC. The PowerNow technology in my AthlonXP-M CPU, The battery, the Display, and wi-fi always needed serious tweaking in other distors. Mepis 3.4 didn't recognize anything. Im piratically speechless with this version! In fact this is the first distro to completely replace windows XP on my laptop. No more dual boot, Simply Mepis!
My little brother has a PC I built him years ago (Duron 700MHZ, 256MB ram, Geforce2 MX420 2X AGP), He allways seems to get viruses and spyware, frustrated after the 3rd reformat in a month I switched him to SimplyMepis and exspected to get complaints. I was amazingly surprised. He had backed up all his MP3's put them back on his hard-drive. Amarok recognized his ipod, and he finds the interface easier than itunes! LimeWire installed easily just download , run alien and install. OpenOffice opens all the docs he makes at school on MS-Word. Mepis restored his confidence and mine, in that old p.o.s desktop PC of his.

Needless to say, I am pleased. I installed Mepis 6 on the system in my girls room. It installed flawlessly on an old Gateway with a Celeron processor. It has all the features the kids need when they use it. Yet another great job.
