Region 1 Encrypted DVD's not playing in Mepis 6 Kaffiene

Hi, Most of my Region 1 DVDs dont play in Kaffeine. It simply doesn't open them. No error message or anything. It does nothing. And they are original DVDs and new without scratch. They play fine on widows.
These DVDs used to play fine on XinePlayer in Mepis 3.3.1
I tried finding xine player in Synaptic, but looks like it is not there in ubuntu repository.
any solutions?

can you find them in synaptic? If not then where can i get deb package from?
If you are short on chops then break a neck with MEPIS

uncomment all repos, hit reload and search. They're all there.....
