Big difference Mepis 3.x.x to 6.0 with Ubuntu
I decided to take a look and compare approach with Mepis. I have a distro with version 3.x.x of Mepis and then downloaded version 6.0 with the Ubuntu underlayment.
With the earlier distro it was able to detect nearly everything in an aging Dell OptiPlex GX1, and the video was excellent. Satisfied, I then installed Mepis version 6.0 and it did not correctly detect the video properly. So there I was with an unusable system. I found this to be true as well with Ubuntu. An earlier version of Ubuntu installed wonderfully, but the new version of Ubuntu didn't.
It appears that I will have to hunt for video drivers to make this work.
Any ideas???

press F3
when starting the live CD, before making the menu choice, press F3 to select the correct video resolution and then reinstall xconfig.
Or check out www.mepislovers-wiki.org to configure manually, but the live CD trick is easier....
