Canon S300 wont print

I am getting 7 orange lights flashing and 1 green. I dont have a manual and my printer has stopped working 
(( it wont do anything. Can anyone help me please?? I have tried changing the cartridges and looked for paper jams but it doesnt help.

I have an i550 canon thats doing the same basic thing seven orange flashes & a green . After searching the canon site i assume its because of a memory error or lost memory for some reason, in my case printer sat for quite a while unplugged & it cant see the print head anymore. The seven flash explanation is rather cryptic and im not positive in either case exactly what my problem is, all that i gleaned was there is an error somewhere and it probably refers to several. Thought about replacing print head but cost wise you can allmost buy a new one. It boils down to throw away hardware i suppose, it sucks but thats the way things are made these days .
