grub not loading on dual boot winxp and mepis

Just thought I would post how I got grub to load on my system. Hopefully it will help someone who is doing a search with the same problem I had.
First I have a dual boot with windows xp, which was installed first, on the 1st hard drive which is SATA. I installed mepis on the 2nd hard drive which was ata-100. When I installed mepis, and did install grub to the mbr. When I restarted, grub did not load, and windoze restarted. After several searches, i finally decided to try a suggestion of changing the boot priority in the bios. I changed the boot priority to make the 2nd drive boot 1st, and this worked. Grub loaded, and it detected windoze xp. Hopefully, soon I will be done with windoze.

thanks to mepis for making a linux system that is user friendly, and works out of the box. I was learning linspire, and again thank you for giving me an option besides linspire or freespire to switch over to linux. Nothing against linspire or freespire, because it is good for people who don't have to take the time to learn much about linux. But hopefully if someone is doing a search on the internet about linspire vs freespire, they will find this post, and know that there is another option....go mepis, it is easy to learn. the main difference I have found is that you have to learn to use the k package manager and or synaptic to install applications. It is well worth the time to learn those packages, in order to be free of paying to use cnr.
