LAN connection lost on shutdown/reboot

I just installed MEPIS Linux and the internet connection works well.

But when I shutdown or reboot the computer, my DSL modem looses its LAN connection (connected to ethernet card). It is a Fritz!Box SL that has a status LED that tells me whether the LAN connection is ready.

When I start the computer and boot Linux, the connection gets established and I can use the modem as usual (configured as router -> stable DSL connection).
But if I want to boot Windows (please, no joking answers!), the LAN connection cannot be established.

The only way to use the modem in Windows is to boot Linux, press the power off button for some seconds and start with Windows. In this case, the LAN connection does not get lost, so I guess it's a problem with the Linux shutdown process???

Thanks in advance!
