SimplyMEPIS 6.0 Extras CDs Released
We've uploaded the SimplyMEPIS 6.0 Extras CDs to the MEPIS pool and the public mirrors. They can be found in the mepis released directory. These 3 CDs are provided only as a convenience for users who can't rely on having a continuous fast Internet connection. The same packages are also available from the on-line pools.
The CDs contain over 2,000 packages that are not included on the SimplyMEPIS bootable/installable CD. CD 1 has additional KDE applications, games, and educational software. CD 2 contains additional fonts and language support packages for localizing KDE, OpenOffice, Firefox, and Linux. CD 3 includes server and development software.
Due to the recent issues with GPL compliance, we have done our best to make sure the CDs do NOT contain software that requires the use of libmad0, lame, or liblame0. These mp3 packages may be legally downloaded, from a public pool, for personal use by any end-user. However, if you use these packages and you are in a jurisdiction that honors the mp3 patents, you are legally prohibited from redistributing the binary packages. In this situation, GPL license Section 3 should be considered null and void.
