Cannot copy cd using Sony rw dw-g120a - Workaround

Mepis 3.4.3
I cannot copy a cd with this linux version and Sony rw dw-g120a combo drive.
The cd is read, then when k3b tries to eject the input disk, it cannot do that.

I have had trouble ejecting disks with Mepis 3.4.3 and have set up a routine (with help from this site).
But that routine doesn't work in the midst of a disk copy.

Can anyone suggest a solution, or a workaround for this?

Workaround:
I have found that if I do not use KsCd that there is no problem.
That program seems to set something that prevents my access to /dev/hdc (I checked to see I have full access).
Using Kaffeine to play the cd is OK.
