xserver-xorg-core upgrade

mmelbert's picture

We are getting some reports that upgrading xserver-xorg-core to version 1:1.0.2-0ubuntu10.3 is causing some systems to fail after upgrading.

Warren has taken the previous xorg-core package and placed it in the MEPIS repository. Doing this should override the newer, broken xorg-core package and prevent it from installing. If your installation is broken, you can revert to the older package by typing 'apt-get install --reinstall xserver-xorg-core/mepis' at a root commandline.

We will keep our eye on this issue and will remove the original xorg-core pacakge once things get fixed on the Ubuntu side.

UPDATE:

It seems that this is not just a MEPIS issue but the update seems to affecting Ubuntu as well. You can read about it here: Latest xorg-core update broke X

FINAL UPDATE:

The package in the Ubuntu pool was fixed and Warren removed the override package from the MEPIS pool on the 23rd. All is well. Nothing to see here. Move along, move along...
