Unexpected IRQ Trap????? Mepis 6.0

I have a *slight* problem with the latest release. (MEPIS 3.3 Works Fine).

AMD Athlon XP 2200+
512MB Ram
80GB Maxtor

At first I tried normal boot. It dumped me to a blank screen. *blink* Jawdropping!

Then I tried all the other modes... It hangs at "Uncompressing Kernel... OK, Booting the kerneL"

At this point I guessed it was doing something just I couldn't see it
I noticed that Normal Boot has a 'Silent' command so I removed that and tried again.... Now I get a continuous loop of:

Unexpected IRQ Trap at Vector 10 Shocked

There was some text at the top but it goes too fast to even get a chance to read it.

Any Ideas? Puzzled

You need to provide info about your hardware. Like is it a laptop and any other tidbits you can like board model and name processor platform etc...

PC

It is a TIME pc.

VIA Mobo (I dunno the exact model)
Socket A AMD 1.8GHz
Desktop PC
WLAN Card (netgear v2 firmware)
Firewire (generic)
LAN Card (US Robotics)

Pheonix BIOS
.... I can't think of anything else ...

Pull the firewire and wlan

Pull the firewire and wlan card, and try to reboot the LiveCD.

If it goes ok, then add either one, to see what happens. You might see something else entirely, but this is a good way to start.

After thinking a bit more im wondering if there was any text when it left you at black screen? There are a few things offhand you can try. When you see grub screen press f3 and at end of grub string add vesa . If that dont work try ctrl alt f1 to try for command prompt then login as root password root and issue command startx if it doesnt start x windows it will give error messages as to what the problem may be. Let me know.

Fixed

I fixed it by changing some BIOS settings (pulling the cards didn't help)

I disabled ACPI, the onboard modem, some other devices that use IRQ's. It boots fine.

I got fed up with the screen resolution 1024x768.... -_- I messed up the frequencys...

How do you change the frequencies back from console? (where's the config file located?) The LiveCD boots with incorrect frequencies as well and VESA just hangs... -_-
