It's working over here. I've found that sometimes, after upgrading cups, I must reinstall my printer via KDE's Peripherals|Printers screen. I think I had to do that on the last ugprade of cupsys. Not sure.

When I try to add a printer, after selecting local printer the next screen asks which port. When I click on USB then OK, I get the error empty URI. I notice the URI box on this screen has nothing in it.
kinfo center shows my USB printer like so:
UHCI Host controler (2)
Manufacturer: EPSON
Serial #: W20201908201747520

The url for my epson c80 usb printer is USB://EPSON/Stylus%20c80 , you will have to substitute you printer name in the url box to fit your printer. If your printer is able to use paralell i would ust it rather than usb . And the reason is its slow a christmas while printing from usb, its mutch faster the other way. You can try inserting the url and maybe it will find it . I suspect some config file got overwritten on upgrade, i suggest if you get the option to keep the original files and not upgrade unless its necessary or it shows up in the kicker tray notification applet.

I tried putting in USB://EPSON/Stylus%20cx3200 as a URI but i get the error "The local URI doesn't correspond to a detected port".
How can i find out the URI to enter for my printer, It must be somewhere in mepis. Kinfo shows it but not the URI.
is there a command I can enter that will reveal it?

Try deleting the 20 from your url string other than that the best bet is fire up live cd log in as root and setup the printer with that. Take down settings and insert them where needed after booting into installation. Info Center under devices may give you a clue too. If you havent allready done so a reboot may detect the printer again if left on, its probably the first thing i would have done.

yes, i reckon you upgraded cupsys.
i had to head off to debian unstable to get a working cups server after that upgrade error.
cupsys 1.2.2-1 works for me, base system Mepis6.0
