In our sector of the globe

drlizau's picture

Just to remind you all, Mepis never sleeps, because some of us are positioned at different places around the globe.
In this sector, winter is just finished. We still need rain - about 5 years worth will do fine for starters.
This is our windiest month and often I get a tailwind to help my bicycle home from work. I'm looking forward to more fine warm days which are great for cycling, but I'd be very happy to ride home wet in the rain.

Hi drlizau - we have much in common

I'm also a bicyclist (currently about 45 miles most Sundays, though I go the gym almost every day). I also was interested in ham radio, though I've been working with computers since 1967. When I moved to Dayton (home of the hamvention) in 1976 (and I was working afternoons and evenings then -- home most mornings) ham radio was a natural fit. I've not been active in ham radio recently. I became interested in Linux when I purchased a server in 2004 to use as a home desktop and did not have an OS for it. Luckily I discovered Mepis fairly quickly -- I think Mepis and Kanotix are the best distros.

I've been working as a mainframe dba since about 1993.

Where is your sector of the globe?

sector

i try to quite obtuse about my exact location so that it would take a lot of effort to actually identify me. I'm in part of south eastern australia, not coastal, and very short of rain.
