Hey guys,
We all know each other through forum posts. I have an odd question. Here is a forum post about XaOS and this person's problem has to do with package dependencies.
I told him to search Synaptic to find it and even explained to him how to open Synaptic and do a search. I found all of the dependencies he needed, in Synaptic, but he said when he did the search he found nothing.
It it just my machine that can find these packages?
If he can't find 'em and we can then he has probably messed with his repositories. But I don't think that's the case. I still think he doesn't understand when I told him about synaptic.
Package to look for: libsvga1
Do a search and please tell me what you get.
Post your results in this topic please.

PS. If you can help this guy/gal out then please do b/c I'm starting to run out of ideas for them. I've still got something up my sleeve the the troubleshooting list draws thin. They don't give you much info to work with.

Thanks Cramp,
I didn't even think to look in KPackage. I normally use synaptic.

I wouldn't ask me for much (I'm pretty much a Linux novice myself).
But, I can use Synaptic and XaoS is there (as is the package you asked about that this poster is getting an error about).
This poster is using SimplyMEPIS 6.0 (the poster had XaoS working in 3.4 and switched to 6.0 and can't find the needed dependencies).
This user is trying to use a .deb file he downloaded for XaoS, versus using the Xaos Version in the existing Ubuntu repositories for MEPIS 6.0.
That's probably one of the problems. But, even so, the package it's missing is still in the repositories.
My guess is that the repository the packages are located in is not enabled (and/or this user dind't know that you have to reload the package lists) with Synaptic before searching to make sure it has current package lists available.

So did I. Hopefully, the person will "get it" working soon

I was starting to feel cornered b/c I did not have the results of others to compare to.

I'm just a day late and a dollar short, I see.
Anyway, libsvga1-dev, libsvga1, and a bunch of related packages were found through KPackage on an installation that is SM3.3.1 or earlier? Definitely earlier, I think...well, you take a look and tell me how old it is:

Hi Sam,
It was found here in Synaptic Package Manager, but not in KPackage.
