Error after install "Please check dcopserver is running!" SimplyMepis 6

First of all, my hardware:

Pentium 4, 2.8ghz, 512mb Ram
ATI Radeon 9200se 128mb

I can use the Live CD fine (i'm using it to post this) but the install I made on my hard drive gets to the first block of loading the gui after I log in, and says:

"There was an error setting up inter-process communication for KDE

The message returned by the server was

'Could not read network server list

/root/.DCOPserver_Ultimate Computer_0

Please check the dcopserver is running!"

(yes, i did call my computer 'Ultimate Computer' How embarassing... )

How can I fix this?

Please help - I've just uninstalled Ubuntu as I didn't like GNOME and I REALLY want Mepis to work.
