[Solved] Resolution Issue

SimplyMEPIS 6.0 Final

I have just installed SimplyMepis 6 and my monitor which can handle 1280 x 1024 is using 1024 x 768.

It is set up as a Generic LCD 1280x1024 and I saw in one of the beta forums that I can enter the resolution I want. Now, I may be being thick, but I can't find where I can enter this information

I am sure this is a real newb question.

Firstly save a copy of /etc/X11/xorg.conf to your desktop or where ever you like in case of a mishap in which case you could boot up in the live CD and copy back the saved file and replace the one you might have messed up. Go to K>File System>File Manger - Super User Mode to be able to edit as root and enter your password. I have a Gateway which likes 1680x1050 but my editing of this file also gives me a choice of 1280x1074. I think you could copy my SubSection "Display" portions over yours and make it work and then right click on your desktop and choose Configure Desktop and choose display and you should see your screen value as a choice.
