Mepis 3.4.3
Epson c88 was working - but now Print Manager shows "Stopped - accepting jobs".
How do I change to "Idle - accepting jobs"?
I can send to the print que, but no printing.
I dont see anything in the print manager for this.
Thanks for any help.

Thanks for replying.
I didn-t look far enough - start/stop is controlled by right-click on the printer in the kde control module.
But - I do have a problem.
All print jobs show up in kde control module for print and just say "processing" but never print.
This happens from either the command-line lpr or printing from an icon on Konqueror.
I installed the Mepis 3.4.3 on another partition to test and printing is fine. I do not see any differences in kde control module between the systems.
I had installed krename using synaaptic but how could this screw up printing?
I have removed and reinstalled the printer, shut down and restarted the system, unplugged and replugged the connection for the printer.

Really tough to say what your problem may be i dont see any conflicting packages in kpackage. (that are known) Did you try removing krename to see if it had any effect? You may have found a bug that no one has reported, hard to say. But with two installs maybe you can track it down that was a good idea.
You didnt say if it was a usb or paralell hook up but i have had kind of iffy response with usb printers. If its usb and you have a paralell cable you might try that if its doable to see what happens. Seems youve tried every thing i would have so far so i cant be of too mutch help at this point. Maybe with two installs you can track it down in time.

More info:
A difference between the two installed partitions with the KDE control module for the printers.
This works:
DESCRIPTION: EPSON Stylus C88
url: ipp:mepis1:631/printers/epson
This doenst work:
DESCRIPTION: EPSON Stylus C88
url: ipp://localhost.localdomain:631/printerts/epson
usb connection
Maybe that's it - but how to change it?

The only thing i can think of is to remove the existing in stall and try appending the url when reinstalling.

The printer problem really isn't resolved but I have worked around it
1. installed the system on another partition
2. deleted the user file on the new system so only /home is there
3. copied old user file to new system (cp -a /home/xxxx /mnt/sda7 /home

"Stopped - accepting jobs".
Can you give us a little more info about what you are trying to print and from what program like konqueror or firefox etc? Do you have any lights flashing on the printer? Without more info all i can suggest is to try restarting the printserver from the print manager. Hit the button at bottom of the panel and sign in as root in administeration mode. Then you can try a test page to see if it works for root. Another thought if you have a winders partition is check printing there to see if its printer or ink & eliminate some possibilities.
