Praising MEPIS

I just want to say that I am VERY new to Linux. I have spent Hours & hours downloading, installing and tinkering with just about all the free Linux Os's, but I have not been happy with any of them. I have been wanting to find a subsitute for Windows. I have become quite efficient with Windows through the years, the only thing that I have against it is I DON'T LIKE MICROSOFT'S MONEY HUNGRY ATTITUDE! Now I see where they are starting to close out support on XP SP1. I'm sure that it won't be long that support won't be there for SP2 either (after all Vista is coming out this month),I'm sure this is boost sales for the new Os system.
Mepis is the only Linux system that I have been able to download, install, configure and get running in one night.
THANKS to all the people that has put their heart and soul plus all the hard hours on this Os.
Thanks again guys! ------- Bill Key.

Welcome Bill

.... and yes, we are a happy bunch of campers with a fine system like MEPIS.

Don't hesitate to ask any questions if something pops up. And make sure to also visit www.mepislovers.com which has a very friendly forum as well....

Newbie or not Newbie, there's always a question

Bill you really should edit

Bill you really should edit your post and change your email to read "billkey at sbcglobal dot net" or better yet, just remove it all togather. I will come back and bite you if you don't. Smiling

SWEEEEEEEEEEET

Hey Bill,
Welcome to MEPIS! Jimmy's right about the email. There are spambots that crawl webpages for email addresses it could use for spaming.

At any rate there are some places I think you would be interested in visiting since you are new to MEPIS. There is a paid supported MEPIS known as Frontier which is distro'd and partnered by Technalign. For selling locations and stuff go to http://www.tafusion.org/ or http://www.tafusion.com/

There is a VERY easy to follow/use quick start guide for Windows users switching to MEPIS. It is helpful and has even the simplest users in mind while also appealing to some advanced users who have used Linux but not specifically MEPIS (which includes features other distros lack). You can obtain this user guide in PDF format at http://kb.tafusion.org/link.php?id=92

There's a ton of good articles for MEPIS and features at http://kb.tafusion.org/

Click here to get the MEPIS.org searchbar for firefox.

Click here to get the KnowledgeBase for MEPIS searchbar. Which is where all those cool articles are coming from.

Hope your experience is as good as mine when I discovered MEPIS. I am hooked have been using it for about 2 months and have written most of the articles on that KB through my discoveries. And it's better to use this forum as a form of contact rather than your email.

Later!
SAM
