I thought this tool needed it's own page. I just upgraded the HD on my laptop from 40GB to 120GB, I could have used g4u to do a disc copy(copydisk sd0 wd0) but all I wanted to copy was the XP partition, so I installed the new HD, setup all my partitions(14 total including swap). I'm going to put XP on the first part then swap on the second part and all the other parts are extended and for Linux. Then I booted the MEPIS 6.0-1 DVD and installed the root to the first extended part and home to the second part, installed grub to the MBR and put the old drive in a usb enclosure, booted the g4u cd and typed "copypart sd0e wd0e", about 20 minutes later it was done and I booted into MEPIS and typed the XP stanza into the /boot/grub/menu.lst, saved the file and rebooted into Windows XP no problem and no need to spend days installing all that spy-ware guard and anti-virus stuff that is needed for Windows and it's already activated too. Very Nice!

Very nice Jimmy. Yes, it's hard enough loading Windows the first time, but a real pain having to do it to move things to another drive or system.

I have had good luck using GParted Live CD. I was able to copy my old drive partitions to a new drive by putting the new drive into a USB enclosure and doing the same thing you did.

Have you played with GParted Live CD at all?

No Jon, It's the default

No Jon, It's the default install on Debian Etch and I found that it seems to do a better job of moving partitions than QTParted, but I did not know that it would copy. I'll check it out. Thanks.
