printer/scanner buying advice

Could someone suggest the epson model which would give me the least amount of trouble installing. I have been looking at the dx4850 or rx520 but someone might know better.
Could change to hp if it would be easier but understand epson would be better. I do need a combined printer/scanner.
Thank you for any advice.

What do you think!
I am trying to get away from windows - install an external hd just for mepis and use open office for work.

Thanks

Should work fine.

I've tested one of those at work using the Mepis LiveCD with no problems.

I work at a warehouse club, and occasionally end up testing returned merchandise we don't get credit on before it's marked down (so we don't resell a DOA).

We have a Windows XP machine available, but it takes about 20 minutes just to install the HP (or Epson, or Lexmark) multifunction printer driver in XP.

In 10 minutes I can boot the same machine with the Mepis LiveCD, install the drivers and test the printer/scanner.

I have not yet encountered a newer HP multifunction that didn't print right off the bat once I selected the right driver in Mepis. A few needed a little config tweaking before they would scan, but nothing major. IIRC, the 1510xi I tested just worked.

Thanks very much for the

Printer shoppers should take a look there before making a purchase.
