How to get sound when playing Audio CD's with KsCD

Very common for laptops and many new desktop PC systems.

The fix is a simple adjustment to kscd.

Open KsCD and click the Extras button at bottom right then select Configure KsCD

Under CD menu and CD-ROM Device, select the "Use Direct Digital Playback" option,
No changes to Select Audio Backend
Change Select Audio Device to /dev/dsp1 then click Apply

Now your CD's will play with sound

The reason for this is, in the years past, cd drives had a small cable to carry the analogue audio signal from the cd drive direct to the sound cards input, but todays computers do not have this cable, so the signal source must be set to digital, just like it is for dvd's
