Access Point selection as user

OK,
I've got a notebook setup for my boss to take on the road with him. Now, is there a tool he can use to log into hotspot access points using the wireless? I like using wifi-radar, but it requires root privilages. I want to make it easy for him, and so he doesn't have to be root to make it work.

Is there a way to make this work?

Kwifimanager is probably the

Kwifimanager is probably the easiest I've seen to use. It's in the repos, if not already on that machine.

It is >= SimplyMEPIS 6.0, right?

One thing about kwifimanager

If you already have a connection, it will not show what other access points are available, and I'm not sure it will make a connection for you without root access?

Kwifimanager has a "Scan for

Kwifimanager has a "Scan for New Networks" function that I use fairly often, and works fine as a normal user.

I have never seen that it will not report other networks when I'm actively connected to my own WAP.

Interesting, it must be my wlan card

I have other issues such as the device address of my wlan card is eth1, so maybe kwifimanager not reporting other access points is simply an issue with my card or the driver because it's never reported any other wlan when it is connected to one of them, but while disconnected, it shows 3 and sometimes 4 at home and 2 or 3 when I'm at work.

That didn't occur to me, and

That didn't occur to me, and you may be quite correct in that.

I'm talking through wlan0 on this end, so that may very well be all the difference that's needed.

kwifimanager doesn't work for me either...

Yes, it's SM 6.01 installed from the DVD ISO. The wireless card is on ath0.

Is there anything that has to be done to configure kwifimanager? I just installed it from Synaptic.

Using the "Scan for Networks" button only shows two of the four access points in range of my laptop, and the "Switch to Netork" button is greyed out.

Interestingly, under the Root account, it also shows only two APs, but one of them is different than what I get as a user. Go figure. The switch networks button is also greyed out as Root, which makes me think something is wrong with it.
